Diversity Policy

June 2016

The following policy document has been approved by the Sandstone Group Executive Committee and is also available for Sandstone staff to view on the company intranet.

Purpose and Commitment:

Workplace diversity refers to the variety of differences between people in an organisation. It is an understanding that each individual is unique, and a recognition of our individual differences. These differences can include ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, carer/family responsibilities, physical abilities, socio-economic background, religious beliefs, perspective, experience, or other ideologies.

The purpose of this policy is to outline Sandstone Technology’s commitment to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Objective:

This policy is a guideline for all Sandstone Technology employees to enable achievement of our workplace diversity commitment.

Scope:

This policy applies to all Sandstone Technology Board directors, company executives, senior leaders, employees and contractors of Sandstone Technology.

Policy:

Sandstone Technology recognises that our workforce is the most valuable asset we have. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and our company’s achievement.

Sandstone’s commitment to recognising the importance of diversity extends to all areas of our business including, but not limited to, our practices and policies on recruitment, appointment to roles, retention of employees, talent development, mentoring and coaching programs, training and development, succession planning, flexible work arrangements, forms of leave available to employees, and the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of workplace diversity equity that encourages and enforces:

  • Respectful communication and cooperation between all employees.
  • Teamwork and employee participation, permitting the representation of all groups and employee perspectives.
  • Work/life balance through flexible work schedules to accommodate any reasonable needs of an employee.
  • Employer and employee contributions to the communities we serve to promote a greater understanding and respect for the diversity.

All employees of Sandstone Technology have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. All employees are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other company-sponsored, customer and participative events.

Any employee found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behaviour against others will be subject to disciplinary action.

Reporting Concerns:

Sandstone Technology is committed to fostering an environment where concerns can be reported without fear of punishment or retribution. We will treat all reports seriously and in confidence and will act appropriately and promptly.

Employees who believe they have been subjected to any kind of discrimination that conflicts with the company’s workplace diversity policy should seek assistance from an HR representative.

Employees who have observed discrimination or are unsure of any action that conflicts with the company’s workplace diversity policy should seek assistance from an HR representative.
