The Role

There is currently an exciting opportunity to join our Executive Team as the Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CF&OO). We are seeking the services of a consummate professional with extensive executive experience in overseeing the finance, risk, compliance & legal functions of business(es) in ideally the banking & financial services or technology industries, to join this market-leading, long established Australian Fintech.

 

Reporting to both the CEO and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, the CFOO is part of the executive management team and has responsibility for the effective and efficient management of all aspects of Sandstone’s finance, risk, contracts and administration, including planning and budgeting, financial controls, statutory and management reporting, governance, risk management, compliance, contracts and commercials. The CFOO also assumes the position of a ‘quasi’ Company Secretary and provides support to the Advisory Committee and major shareholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership - Work with the Advisory Committee, CEO and Executive team to shape the strategic direction of the company.
  • Financial Management – Provide timely, clear and accurate insights and advice on the financial implications of business activities, including project evaluations, forecasts and feasibility, budgeting, funding and financial performance to the CEO and the Board of Directors/Advisory Committee.
  • Contract and Commercials - Handle all aspects of commercial and contracts preparation, negotiations, execution and monitoring and assist in the evaluation and analysis of new commercial opportunities from a financial perspective, modelling financial options and ROI analysis.
  • Risk Management and Governance - Manage all risks that may adversely impact Sandstone’s business operations.
  • Attend and present at regular Board/Advisory Committee meetings - deliver insights into business performance drivers and future projections. 

 

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • CA or CPA qualified with tertiary qualifications in Finance/ Accounting, and 10+ years’ experience in finance in a commercial environment
  • Previous experience within the IT industry is desirable
  • Strong commercial acumen, with proven results in delivering on commercial goals
  • Experience in risk management and a demonstrated understanding of the regulatory landscape in the IT and financial services sector
  • Experience with ISO270001 compliance highly regarded
  • Experience in managing contracts and commercial negotiations
  • Experience in strategic planning at a senior or executive capacity
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, relevant legislation, and budgetary policies and procedures
  • High level computer literacy skills with an ability to interrogate and analyse systems to extract and interpret financial information, producing clear and accurate reports
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop a small team, and to also work collaboratively as part of an Executive team to achieve results
